Skydog's Home

In 1969-1970, Duane, Donna, and Galadrielle lived in this 1890s Victorian home in downtown Macon, Georgia.  This was at the same time that the Allman Brothers Band released their first two albums, and when Duane had a side project with Derek and the Dominos.  This was a magical time and place!

This is not your typical vacation rental.  We have created a unique immersive rock & roll experience for guests to stay where musical history was made.  Where gilded-age grandeur meets 1960s hippie chic.  We can accommodate up to eleven guests with two king beds, two queen beds, one queen futon sofa, and one day bed.   The furniture is an eclectic mix of locally made tables from reclaimed lumber, mid-century modern, and antiques.

We have created a shrine to Duane Allman with vintage photographs and concert posters.

There are numerous Duane Allman and Allman Brothers Band historic sites in Macon.   This home has a walk score of 67/100 and is walkable to many of them.    Rose Hill Cemetery is 0.3mi, and the Bell House and the Hippie Crash Pad are 0.2 miles away.  Downtown Macon is an easy walk through Coleman Hill Park, a park with panoramic city views that is literally right down the street. Eat at H&H Soul Food where the band ate during recording sessions at Capricorn Records. Visit the Big House Museum where Duane and the band later lived communal style.

Sleep in Duane Allman's former bedroom where he kept his guitars under the bed.  Those guitars are now worth millions!

A whimsical Music Room with a daybed, wet bar and refrigerator.  The ceiling is tiled with 12" album covers of various rock & roll bands and the walls are adorned with vinyl records.

The kitchen is commercial-style with a gas stove and plenty of prep areas.

We commissioned local artist, Kevin "Scene" Lewis to paint a mural that wraps around the large stairwell.  Kevin's passion and attention to detail are very evident.   He has painted many murals, including those at Grant's Lounge and Sweet Eleanor's.

The mural winds upstairs and during different times of day, the stained glass quilt window casts light on it.

There is a spacious screened in porch to enjoy bug-free gatherings.  This home is very comfortable with large rooms and tall ceilings.

This home boasts an attached 2-car garage with keypad openers and off-street parking for an additional 3-4 vehicles.  On-street parking is available, but is first come, first served.

The neighborhood is full of tree-lined brick streets showcasing large historic homes with amazing architecture.  It is a great place to take a walk and admire this wonderful city.
